Ravi Singareddy, MD
The "Psychiatrist Near Me" serving the greater Atlanta area

Telemedicine & Telehealth

Although telehealth might be limited somewhat in comparison to face-to-face doctor visits, it offers several advantages particularly during this COVID-19 pandemic required social isolation, especially for the situation we are facing here in the greater Atlanta, GA area.

Several commercial health insurance companies as well as Medicare have temporarily expanded coverage of telehealth services to help you access health care from more places (including your home).

Telehealth in psychiatry using video modality is a validated and effective practice of medicine. It helps meet patients’ needs for convenient, affordable, and readily-accessible mental health services. Robust evidence shows Telehealth improves outcomes and higher patient satisfaction ratings.

Dr. Singareddy is experienced in providing psychiatric services via Telehealth (synchronous audiovisual modality) to inpatient psychiatric facilities as well as outpatient settings and to patients directly at their homes.

Dr Singareddy helped solve my insomnia issue that suddenly became severe during the pandemic. He took the time to fully understand my problems and was careful to prescribe medications at the lowest dosage to solve them. Dr Singareddy and his staff always promptly returned my calls when I had questions including during the Thanksgiving holiday when I was at my low point.

I've been seeing Dr. Singareddy since December of 2019 and I've had an extremely positive experience with him! Below I'll summarize the progress we've made together. After being hospitalized for a severe depressive episode, it was required for me to find a psychiatrist to help manage my medication and a therapist to help recover from trauma. While it took a month or two to find a therapist that was a good fit for me, Dr. Singareddy was a lucky first pick! I had only just gotten out of the hospital and was in their two week intensive outpatient treatment program, so I was feeling very shaky and nervous when I came to the facility. The staff checked me in and treated me so warmly that it eased a lot of stress right from the beginning. Then I waited and got to meet the doctor next! Dr. Singareddy came in, greeted me kindly, and began to ask lots of in depth questions trying to understand where I was coming from, what symptoms I was struggling with the most, etc. He had such a soft spoken, gentle, empathetic demeanor that I felt a lot more at ease. He never talked over me, he listened and asked insightful questions based off of what he heard, and gave me an outline of what to expect in my next few visits. The next couple of times were very pleasant and informative. We would go over how I was doing with the medication, how I was feeling, and discuss what I was experiencing in therapy. When I was having issues with constipation and night sweats on my first medication, he adjusted the time I took my pill, things I should eat, and recommended ways I could get more fiber if the diet changes didn't help. I began recording symptoms to better notice any patterns, which helped the both of us determine that a switch in medication would be best. He walked me through the whole process of that. On my next medication, I still struggled with constipation, but the night sweats only came with bad dreams. So, we tried adjusting my diet a bit more, but it didn't seem to help. Eventually, after some experimentation, I realized I was greatly underestimating how much water I needed to consume! It was such a simple thing to overlook and we both shared a laugh upon the discovery! I think the only other thing I struggled with was being able to fall asleep, due to anxious thoughts. Both he and my therapist recommended a small dose of melatonin and better sleep hygiene (which is surprisingly difficult!). All of this I was walked through. With the Covid-19 epidemic, the facility immediately switched to online visitations only. Didn't really impact the quality of our sessions, in my opinion. Dr. Singareddy not only adapts to where I'm at and my changing needs, but also the tools available. Now I'm at the point where I can see my therapist every other week and see Dr. Singareddy every couple of months to check in! The next part of the plan is to eventually discontinue my medication safely and see how I cope without it! We're not entirely sure what to expect, but I know I'm not worried. If I have another severe depressive episode, it just means there's still something I need to work through or that I might need some medication to keep me healthy. And I've put together a team of resources to help me! None of this is ever treated like a failure here. I feel like I can't even recognize who I was back in 2019. I'm extremely grateful for the guidance and care that I've received from Dr. Singareddy and his staff! I would recommend them to anybody!
