BrainsWay Deep TMS
The magnetic wave from TMS only reaches about .7 to 1.1 cm into the brain. Our BrainsWay Deep TMS system reaches 1.8 to 3.5 cm. A head-to-head study of TMS treatments, published in the Journal of Psychiatric Research, found that Deep TMS plus standard medication was significantly more effective at reducing depression levels among Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) patients compared with Traditional TMS plus medication or medication alone.
Deep TMS had no difference in safety or tolerability from Traditional TMS.
What to Expect During a Treatment
During a Deep TMS session using BrainsWay, a cushioned helmet is placed upon the patient’s head. The helmet is positioned to allow the best targeting of the brain structures indicated by treatment , before the device itself is turned on. As the treatment occurs, the electromagnetic fields are sent to regulate the activity of the brain. This allows Deep TMS to avoid the targeting issues that sometimes arise during regular TMS treatment.
